March 19, 2019 – “Circumvention of App Permissions to Obtain Protected Data on Modern Smart Devices”
March 19 @ 6:40 pm - 9:00 pm
Come join us for the March monthly event of 2019.
This event will follow our Annual General Meeting starting at 6:00pm at the same venue.
About Our Topic
Modern smartphones are general purpose computers and use permission-based models to protect access to sensitive data and system resources. These can be hard to understand, and apps tend to request permissions they do not actually need. This results in third party apps (and third-party SDK’s that are included) having more access to private data than is necessary.
