Frustrated that his patching tools couldn’t find the Plex media server vulnerability that took down the world’s biggest password manager and feeling the embarrassment of having an unsecured vendor in a CNAME record, Chris started writing a tool that now monitors over 7,437 applications and has scanned over 5,000 domains — over 99.9% of which had configuration issues.
Cyber insurance assessments and third-party audits have confirmed the benefits of preparing clients with the domain scanner. The tool has also exposed some interesting statistics for Calgary-based businesses, such as:
66% are missing email configurations that Google and Yahoo began enforcing over a year ago
72% of WordPress sites are missing basic — but essential — security controls
57% of domains have at least one exposed administrative service

Chris Nowell
Over his two decades of information security experience, Chris has audited and managed the cybersecurity of everything from critical infrastructure and the Space Shuttle rocket’s mission control room to small businesses and government of Alberta entities.
His company’s comprehensive approach to cybersecurity led them to develop tools that quickly reveal security issues that have plagued his audit reports for over 20 years.
